1. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
3. I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4. Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
5. And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.
6. For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
7. God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
8. O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?
9. Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
10. Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.
11. The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
12. The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
13. Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
14. Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
15. Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
16. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17. For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
18. For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
19. Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
20. I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
21. With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
24. But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25. I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
26. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27. Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
28. My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29. His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30. If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31. If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32. Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36. His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.
37. It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.
38. But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.
39. Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
40. Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.
41. All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.
42. Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
43. Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
44. Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
45. The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.
46. How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?
47. Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?
48. What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.
49. Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth?
50. Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;
51. Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

2. Je chanterai toujours les bontés de l'Eternel, ma bouche fera connaître ta fidélité de génération en génération.
3. Oui, je le dis: «La bonté est édifiée pour toujours; tu fondes ta fidélité dans le ciel.»
4. J'ai fait alliance avec celui que j'ai choisi, j'ai fait ce serment à mon serviteur David:
5. «J'affermirai ta descendance pour toujours et j'établirai ton trône pour l'éternité.» Pause.
6. Le ciel célèbre tes merveilles, Eternel, et ta fidélité dans l'assemblée des saints.
7. En effet, qui, dans le ciel, peut se comparer à l'Eternel? Qui est semblable à toi parmi les fils de Dieu?
8. Dieu est redoutable dans la grande assemblée des saints, il est terrible pour tous ceux qui l'entourent.
9. Eternel, Dieu de l'univers, qui est puissant comme toi? Eternel, ta fidélité t'environne.
10. C'est toi qui maîtrises l'orgueil de la mer; quand ses vagues se soulèvent, c'est toi qui les calmes.
11. Tu as écrasé l'Egypte, tu l'as transpercée, tu as dispersé tes ennemis par la puissance de ton bras.
12. C'est à toi qu'appartient le ciel, à toi aussi la terre; c'est toi qui as fondé le monde et ce qu'il contient.
13. Tu as créé le nord et le sud; le Thabor et l'Hermon acclament ton nom.
14. Ton bras est puissant, ta main forte, ta droite élevée.
15. La justice et le droit forment la base de ton trône, la bonté et la vérité sont devant toi.
16. Heureux le peuple qui sait t'acclamer: il marche à ta lumière, Eternel,
17. il se réjouit sans cesse à cause de ton nom et tire gloire de ta justice,
18. car c'est toi qui fais sa beauté et sa puissance; c'est ta faveur qui relève notre force.
19. Notre protecteur est à l'Eternel, notre roi appartient au Saint d'Israël.
20. Tu as parlé à tes fidèles dans une vision, tu as dit: «J'ai prêté secours à un héros, j'ai choisi du milieu du peuple un jeune homme.
21. J'ai trouvé mon serviteur David, je l'ai désigné par onction avec mon huile sainte.
22. Ma main le soutiendra et mon bras le fortifiera.
23. L'ennemi ne pourra pas le tromper, ni le méchant l'opprimer.
24. J'écraserai ses adversaires devant lui et je frapperai ceux qui le détestent.
25. Ma fidélité et ma bonté l'accompagneront, et sa force grandira par mon nom.
26. J'étendrai sa domination sur la mer, et son pouvoir sur les fleuves.
27. Lui-même fera appel à moi: 'Tu es mon père, mon Dieu et le rocher de mon salut!'
28. Et moi, je ferai de lui le premier-né, le plus haut placé des rois de la terre.
29. Je lui conserverai toujours ma bonté, et mon alliance lui sera assurée.
30. Je lui donnerai une descendance éternelle, et son trône durera autant que le ciel.
31. Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi et ne marchent pas suivant mes règles,
32. s'ils violent mes prescriptions et ne respectent pas mes commandements,
33. je punirai leurs transgressions avec le bâton et leurs fautes par des coups,
34. mais je ne lui retirerai pas ma bonté et je ne trahirai pas ma fidélité,
35. je ne violerai pas mon alliance et je ne changerai pas ce qui est sorti de mes lèvres.
36. J'ai prêté une fois serment par ma sainteté, je ne mentirai pas à David.
37. Sa descendance subsistera toujours; son trône sera pareil au soleil devant moi,
38. comme la lune il sera établi éternellement. Le témoin qui est dans le ciel est fidèle.» Pause.
39. Et pourtant, tu as rejeté, tu as repoussé celui que tu avais désigné par onction, tu t'es irrité contre lui!
40. Tu as rompu l'alliance avec ton serviteur, tu as déshonoré sa couronne en la jetant par terre.
41. Tu as détruit toutes ses murailles, tu as mis en ruine ses forteresses.
42. Tous les passants le dépouillent, il est un objet de mépris pour ses voisins.
43. Tu as fortifié ses adversaires, tu as réjoui tous ses ennemis;
44. tu as fait reculer le tranchant de son épée et tu ne l'as pas soutenu dans le combat.
45. Tu as mis fin à sa splendeur et tu as jeté son trône à terre;
46. tu as abrégé sa jeunesse, tu l'as couvert de honte. Pause.
47. Jusqu'à quand, Eternel, resteras-tu caché? Jusqu'à quand ta fureur brûlera-t-elle comme le feu?
48. Rappelle-toi quelle est la durée de ma vie et pour quel néant tu as créé tous les hommes.
49. Quel homme peut vivre sans voir la mort? Qui peut sauver son âme du séjour des morts? Pause.
50. Où sont, Seigneur, tes bontés d'autrefois, celles que, dans ta fidélité, tu avais promises par serment à David?
51. Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de la honte de tes serviteurs! Souviens-toi que j'ai la charge de tous ces peuples nombreux!
52. Souviens-toi des insultes de tes ennemis, Eternel, de leurs insultes contre les pas de celui que tu as désigné par onction!
53. Béni soit éternellement l'Eternel! Amen! Amen!
