Podcast summary and references
This Podcast is a chapter by chapter , verse by verse reading of the 1st part of the King james Version Bible from the start in Genesis up until the book of Job. If roughly 5 chapters per day are listened to per day the entire Bible can be listened to in roughly 1 year.
The King James Version is available online. Please visit the KJV Index which indexes all books of the Bible. This Podcast covers the Psalms and Revelation. Numerous other translations of the bible are available online. Our website currently has the King James Version, the Darby Bible, the well known American Standard Version Bible and the simplified Basic English Version.
Due to the length of the Old Testament (39 books), it has been split into 3 parts for the purposes of Podcasting.
Although the split may seem a bit strange, the book of Psalms is the longest book in the bible. Additionally, Psalms and Proverbs can be read/listened to separately and are often included as a supplement to New Testament editions of the bible, which do not include the remainder of the old testament.
King James Version overview
The King James Version (KJV), also known as the King James Bible (KJB) is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England published seven years later in 1611 under James VI of Scotland. This podcast includes the first five books or Pentateuch (corresponds to the Jewish Torah); and the “history” books telling the history of the Israelites, from their conquest of Canaan to their defeat and exile in Babylon and also includes the book of Job. Noted for its “majesty of style”, the King James Version has been described as one of the most important books in English culture and a driving force in the shaping of the English-speaking world.
