1. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4. They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5. O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
6. Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7. Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
8. I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.
9. For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
10. When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11. I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12. They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
13. But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
14. Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15. Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16. Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
17. And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
18. Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
19. Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
20. Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22. Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23. Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24. Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
25. Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
26. For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
27. Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.
28. Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
29. But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
30. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
32. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33. For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
34. Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and everything that moveth therein.
35. For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36. The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
1. Dem Vorsänger. Nach der Singweise «Lilien». Von David. (H69-2) O Gott, hilf mir; denn das Wasser geht mir bis an die Seele!
2. (H69-3) Ich versinke in tiefem Schlamm und habe keinen Stand, ich bin in tiefes Wasser geraten, und die Flut will mich überströmen;
3. (H69-4) ich bin müde von meinem Schreien, meine Kehle ist vertrocknet, ich habe mir die Augen ausgeweint im Harren auf meinen Gott.
4. (H69-5) Derer, die mich ohne Ursache hassen, sind mehr als Haare auf meinem Haupt; meine Feinde, die mich mit Lügen vernichten wollen, sind stark; was ich nicht geraubt habe, das soll ich erstatten!
5. (H69-6) O Gott, du kennst meine Torheit, und meine Schulden sind dir nicht verborgen.
6. (H69-7) Laß nicht zuschanden werden an mir, die deiner harren, o Gott; HERR der Heerscharen; laß nicht meinethalben beschämt werden, die dich suchen, Gott Israels!
7. (H69-8) Denn um deinetwillen trage ich Schmach und bedeckt Schande mein Angesicht.
8. (H69-9) Ich bin fremd geworden meinen Brüdern und unbekannt den Söhnen meiner Mutter;
9. (H69-10) denn der Eifer um dein Haus hat mich gefressen, und die Schmähungen derer, die dich schmähen, sind auf mich gefallen.
10. (H69-11) Als meine Seele fastete und weinte, wurde ich deshalb beschimpft;
11. (H69-12) und als ich mich mit einem Sack kleidete, haben sie mich zum Sprichwort gemacht.
12. (H69-13) Die im Tor herumsitzen, schwatzen von mir, und die Zecher pfeifen mich aus.
13. (H69-14) Ich aber bete, HERR, zu dir zur angenehmen Zeit; antworte mir, o Gott, nach deiner großen Gnade mit deinem wahren Heil!
14. (H69-15) Reiße mich aus dem Schlamm, daß ich nicht versinke; möchte ich doch errettet werden von meinen Hassern und aus den tiefen Wassern,
15. (H69-16) daß mich die Wasserflut nicht überströme und mich die Tiefe nicht verschlinge, noch die Zisterne sich über mir schließe.
16. (H69-17) Erhöre mich, HERR; denn deine Gnade ist freundlich; wende dich zu mir nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit
17. (H69-18) und verbirg dein Angesicht nicht vor deinem Knecht; denn mir ist angst, erhöre mich bald!
18. (H69-19) Nahe dich meiner Seele, erlöse sie; um meiner Feinde willen befreie mich!
19. (H69-20) Du weißt, was für Schimpf, für Schande und Schmach mir angetan wird; meine Widersacher sind alle vor dir.
20. (H69-21) Die Schmach hat mir das Herz gebrochen, daß ich krank geworden bin; ich wartete auf Mitleid, aber da war keines, und auf Tröster, aber ich fand sie nicht.
21. (H69-22) Und sie taten Galle in meine Speise und tränkten mich mit Essig in meinem Durst.
22. (H69-23) Ihr Tisch vor ihnen müsse zur Schlinge werden und den Sorglosen zum Fallstrick!
23. (H69-24) Ihre Augen sollen so finster werden, daß sie nicht mehr sehen, und ihre Lenden sollen allezeit wanken.
24. (H69-25) Gieße deinen Grimm über sie aus, und die Glut deines Zorns erfasse sie;
25. (H69-26) ihre Wohnstätte müsse verwüstet werden, und in ihren Zelten wohne niemand mehr!
26. (H69-27) Denn sie verfolgen den, welchen du geschlagen hast, und vermehren die Schmerzen deiner Verwundeten.
27. (H69-28) Rechne ihnen um so mehr Schulden zu und laß sie nicht kommen zu deiner Gerechtigkeit!
28. (H69-29) Tilge sie aus dem Buche der Lebendigen; sie sollen nicht mit den Gerechten eingeschrieben werden!
29. (H69-30) Ich aber bin elend und krank; dein Heil, o Gott, richte mich auf!
30. (H69-31) Ich will den Namen Gottes rühmen mit einem Lied und ihn erheben mit Lobgesang.
31. (H69-32) Das wird dem HERRN angenehmer sein als ein Stier, als ein Farre, der Hörner und Klauen hat!
32. (H69-33) Wenn das die Elenden sehen, werden sie sich freuen. Ihr, die ihr Gott suchet, euer Herz soll aufleben!
33. (H69-34) Denn der HERR hört auf die Armen und verachtet seine Gebundenen nicht.
34. (H69-35) Himmel und Erde sollen ihn rühmen, das Meer und alles, was sich darin regt!
35. (H69-36) Denn Gott wird Zion retten und die Städte Judas bauen, und man wird daselbst wohnen und sie besitzen;
36. (H69-37) und der Same seiner Knechte wird sie ererben, und die seinen Namen lieben, werden darin wohnen.
