1. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2. The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
3. It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4. The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5. Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6. Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7. The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8. A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9. Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10. Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11. Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12. The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
13. Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14. It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15. There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
16. Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
17. Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18. Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19. He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
20. Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
21. An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22. Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
23. Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24. Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25. It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry.
26. A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
27. The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28. Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
29. The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.
30. The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

2. La terreur du Roi est comme le rugissement d'un jeune lion; celui qui se met en colère contre lui, pèche contre soi-même.
3. C'est une gloire à l'homme de s'abstenir de procès; mais chaque insensé s'en mêle.
4. Le paresseux ne labourera point à cause du mauvais temps, mais il mendiera durant la moisson, et il n'aura rien.
5. Le conseil dans le cœur d'un [digne] personnage est [comme] des eaux profondes, et l'homme intelligent l'y puisera.
6. La plupart des hommes prêchent leur bonté; mais qui est-ce qui trouvera un homme véritable?
7. Ô! que les enfants du juste qui marchent dans son intégrité, seront heureux après lui!
8. Le Roi séant sur le trône de justice dissipe tout mal par son regard.
9. Qui est-ce qui peut dire : J'ai purifié mon cœur; je suis net de mon péché?
10. Le double poids et la double mesure sont tous deux en abomination à l'Eternel.
11. Un jeune enfant même fait connaître par ses actions si son œuvre sera pure, et si elle sera droite.
12. Et l'oreille qui entend, et l'œil qui voit, l'Eternel les a faits tous les deux.
13. N'aime point le sommeil, de peur que tu ne deviennes pauvre; ouvre tes yeux, et tu auras suffisamment de pain.
14. Il est mauvais, il est mauvais, dit l'acheteur; puis il s'en va, et se vante.
15. Il y a de l'or, et beaucoup de perles; mais les lèvres qui prononcent la science sont un vase précieux.
16. Quand quelqu'un aura cautionné pour l'étranger, prends son vêtement, et prends gage de lui pour l'étrangère.
17. Le pain volé est doux à l'homme; mais ensuite sa bouche sera remplie de gravier.
18. Chaque pensée s'affermit par le conseil; fais donc la guerre avec prudence.
19. Celui qui révèle le secret va médisant; ne te mêle donc point avec celui qui séduit par ses lèvres.
20. La lampe de celui qui maudit son père, ou sa mère, sera éteinte dans les ténèbres les plus noires.
21. L'héritage pour lequel on s'est trop hâté du commencement, ne sera point béni sur la fin.
22. Ne dis point : je rendrai le mal; mais attends l'Eternel, et il te délivrera.
23. Le double poids est en abomination à l'Eternel, et la fausse balance n'[est] pas bonne.
24. Les pas de l'homme sont de par l'Eternel, comment donc l'homme entendra-t-il sa voie?
25. C'est un piège à l'homme d'engloutir la chose sainte, et de chercher à s'emparer des choses vouées.
26. Le sage Roi dissipe les méchants, et fait tourner la roue sur eux.
27. C'est une lampe de l'Eternel que l'esprit de l'homme; elle sonde jusqu'aux choses les plus profondes.
28. La bonté et la vérité conserveront le Roi; et il soutient son trône par ses faveurs.
29. La force des jeunes gens est leur gloire; et les cheveux blancs sont l'honneur des anciens.
30. La meurtrissure de la plaie est un nettoiement au méchant, et des coups qui pénètrent jusqu'au fond de l'âme.
