1. Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
2. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4. For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
5. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
6. Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
7. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8. Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
11. Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
12. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
13. Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
14. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15. Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
16. Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
17. As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18. As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
19. Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
20. Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
21. But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
22. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23. I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
24. My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
25. I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
26. Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
27. That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
28. Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
29. Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
30. I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
31. For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

2. Car la bouche du méchant, et la bouche [remplie] de fraudes se sont ouvertes contre moi, [et] m'ont parlé, en usant d'une langue trompeuse.
3. Et des paroles pleines de haine m'ont environné, et ils me font la guerre sans cause.
4. Au lieu que je les aimais, ils ont été mes ennemis; mais moi, je n'ai fait que prier [en leur faveur].
5. Et ils m'ont rendu le mal pour le bien, et la haine pour l'amour que je leur portais.
6. Etablis le méchant sur lui, et fais que l'adversaire se tienne à sa droite.
7. Quand il sera jugé, fais qu'il soit déclaré méchant, et que sa prière soit regardée comme un crime.
8. Que sa vie soit courte, et qu'un autre prenne sa charge.
9. Que ses enfants soient orphelins, et sa femme veuve;
10. Et que ses enfants soient entièrement vagabonds, et qu'ils mendient et quêtent [en sortant] de leurs maisons détruites.
11. Que le créancier usant d'exaction attrape tout ce qui est à lui, et que les étrangers butinent tout son travail.
12. Qu'il n'y ait personne qui étende sa compassion sur lui, et qu'il n'y ait personne qui ait pitié de ses orphelins.
13. Que sa postérité soit exposée à être retranchée; que leur nom soit effacé dans la race qui le suivra.
14. Que l'iniquité de ses pères revienne en mémoire à l'Eternel, et que le péché de sa mère ne soit point effacé.
15. Qu'ils soient continuellement devant l'Eternel; et qu'il retranche leur mémoire de la terre;
16. Parce qu'il ne s'est point souvenu d'user de miséricorde, mais il a persécuté l'homme affligé et misérable, dont le cœur est brisé, et cela pour le faire mourir.
17. Puisqu'il a aimé la malédiction, que la malédiction tombe sur lui; et parce qu'il n'a point pris plaisir à la bénédiction, que la bénédiction aussi s'éloigne de lui.
18. Et qu'il soit revêtu de malédiction comme de sa robe, et qu'elle entre dans son corps comme de l'eau, et dans ses os comme de l'huile.
19. Qu'elle lui soit comme un vêtement dont il se couvre, et comme une ceinture, dont il se ceigne continuellement.
20. Telle soit de part l'Eternel la récompense de mes adversaires, et de ceux qui parlent mal de moi.
21. Mais toi, Eternel Seigneur, agis avec moi pour l'amour de ton Nom; [et] parce que ta miséricorde est tendre, délivre-moi.
22. Car je suis affligé et misérable, et mon cœur est blessé au-dedans de moi.
23. Je m'en vais comme l'ombre quand elle décline, et je suis chassé comme une sauterelle.
24. Mes genoux sont affaiblis par le jeûne, et ma chair s'est amaigrie, au lieu qu'elle était en bon point.
25. Encore leur suis-je en opprobre; quand ils me voient ils branlent la tête.
26. Eternel mon Dieu! aide-moi, [et] délivre-moi selon ta miséricorde.
27. Afin qu'on connaisse que c'est ici ta main, et que toi, ô Eternel! tu as fait ceci.
28. Ils maudiront, mais tu béniras; ils s'élèveront, mais ils seront confus, et ton serviteur se réjouira.
29. Que mes adversaires soient revêtus de confusion, et couverts de leur honte comme d'un manteau.
30. Je célébrerai hautement de ma bouche l'Eternel, et je le louerai au milieu de plusieurs nations.
31. De ce qu'il se tient à la droite du misérable, pour le délivrer de ceux qui condamnent son âme.
