1. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
2. Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
3. Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
4. My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
5. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
6. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
7. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
8. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
9. Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
11. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
12. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
13. But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
15. Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
16. As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
17. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
18. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
19. God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
20. He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.
21. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
22. Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23. But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

2. O Dieu, prête l'oreille à ma prière et ne te dérobe pas à mes supplications!
3. Ecoute-moi et réponds-moi! J'erre çà et là dans mon chagrin et je m'agite
4. à cause de la voix de l'ennemi et de l'oppression du méchant, car ils m'accablent de maux, ils me poursuivent avec colère.
5. Mon coeur tremble au fond de moi, et les terreurs de la mort fondent sur moi.
6. La peur et l'épouvante m'assaillent, et la terreur m'envahit.
7. Je dis: «Si seulement j'avais les ailes de la colombe! Je m'envolerais et je trouverais le repos.
8. Oui, je fuirais bien loin, j'irais habiter au désert. Pause.
9. Je m'échapperais bien vite, plus rapide que le vent impétueux, que la tempête.»
10. Sème la confusion, Seigneur, brouille leur langage, car je ne vois dans la ville que violence et querelles:
11. jour et nuit elles font le tour de ses murailles. L'injustice et la misère y habitent,
12. les crimes sont au milieu d'elle, la fraude et la tromperie ne quittent pas ses places.
13. Ce n'est pas un ennemi qui m'insulte: je le supporterais; ce n'est pas mon adversaire qui s'attaque à moi: je me cacherais devant lui;
14. c'est toi, un homme de mon rang, toi, mon confident et mon ami!
15. Ensemble nous vivions dans une douce intimité, nous allions avec la foule à la maison de Dieu!
16. Que la mort les surprenne, qu'ils descendent vivants au séjour des morts, car la méchanceté est dans leur demeure, elle est dans leur coeur!
17. Quant à moi, je crie à Dieu, et l'Eternel me sauvera.
18. Le soir, le matin, à midi, je soupire et je gémis, et il entendra ma voix.
19. Il me délivrera de leurs assauts et me rendra la paix, car ils sont nombreux contre moi.
20. Dieu entendra, et il les humiliera, lui qui siège de toute éternité. Pause.En effet, il n'y a pas de changement en eux, ils ne craignent pas Dieu.
21. Cet homme porte la main contre ceux qui étaient en paix avec lui, il viole son alliance.
22. Sa bouche est plus douce que la crème, mais la guerre est dans son coeur; ses paroles sont plus onctueuses que l'huile, mais ce sont des épées dégainées.
23. Remets ton sort à l'Eternel, et il te soutiendra. Il ne laissera jamais trébucher le juste.
24. Et toi, ô Dieu, tu les feras descendre au fond de la tombe, ces hommes sanguinaires et trompeurs; ils n'atteindront pas la moitié de leur vie. Quant à moi, je me confie en toi.
