1. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

3. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

4. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

5. I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

6. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

7. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

8. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

9. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

10. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

11. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

1. De David, cantique. *Heureux celui dont la transgression est enlevée et dont le péché est pardonné!

2. Heureux l'homme à qui l'Eternel ne tient pas compte de sa faute et dont l'esprit ne connaît pas la ruse!

3. Tant que je me taisais, mon corps dépérissait; je gémissais toute la journée,

4. car nuit et jour ta main pesait lourdement sur moi. Ma vigueur avait fait place à la sécheresse de l'été. Pause.

5. Je t'ai fait connaître mon péché, je n'ai pas caché ma faute. J'ai dit: «J'avouerai mes transgressions à l'Eternel», et tu as pardonné mon péché. Pause.

6. C'est ainsi que tout fidèle peut te prier au moment convenable. Si de grandes eaux débordent, elles ne l'atteindront pas.

7. Tu es un abri pour moi, tu me préserves de la détresse, tu m'entoures de chants de délivrance. Pause.

8. Je t'instruirai et te montrerai la voie que tu dois suivre; je te conseillerai, j'aurai le regard sur toi.

9. Ne soyez pas comme un cheval ou un mulet sans intelligence: on les freine avec un mors et une bride, dont on les orne, afin qu'ils ne te bousculent pas.

10. Beaucoup de douleurs sont le lot du méchant, mais celui qui se confie en l'Eternel est environné de sa grâce.

11. Justes, réjouissez-vous en l'Eternel et soyez dans l'allégresse! Poussez des cris de joie, vous tous qui avez le coeur droit!
