1. O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:
2. Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3. O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
4. If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)
5. Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
6. Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
7. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
8. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
9. Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
10. My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
11. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
12. If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
14. Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
15. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.
16. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.
17. I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
1. Ein Klagelied Davids, das er dem HERRN sang wegen der Sache Kuschs, des Benjaminiters. (H7-2) HERR, mein Gott, bei dir suche ich Zuflucht; hilf mir von allen meinen Verfolgern und errette mich!
2. (H7-3) Daß er nicht wie ein Löwe meine Seele erraffe und sie zerreiße, weil kein Erretter da ist.
3. (H7-4) O HERR, habe ich solches getan, ist Unrecht an meinen Händen,
4. (H7-5) habe ich meinem Wohltäter mit Bösem vergolten und nicht vielmehr den errettet, der mich nun ohne Ursache bedrängt,
5. (H7-6) so verfolge der Feind meine Seele und ergreife sie und trete mein Leben zu Boden und lege meine Ehre in den Staub! (Pause.)
6. (H7-7) Stehe auf, o HERR, in deinem Zorn, erhebe dich gegen den Übermut meiner Feinde; wache auf für mich zum Gericht, das du verheißen hast!
7. (H7-8) Die Versammlung der Völker umgebe dich, und über ihr kehre zur Höhe zurück!
8. (H7-9) Der HERR wird die Völker richten; fälle du, o HERR, das Urteil über mich nach meiner Gerechtigkeit und nach meiner Unschuld!
9. (H7-10) Laß doch der Gottlosen Bosheit ein Ende nehmen und stärke den Gerechten, denn du prüfst die Herzen und Nieren, gerechter Gott!
10. (H7-11) Mein Schild ist bei Gott, der aufrichtigen Herzen hilft.
11. (H7-12) Gott ist ein gerechter Richter und ein Gott, der täglich zürnt.
12. (H7-13) Wenn man nicht umkehrt, so wetzt er sein Schwert, hält seinen Bogen gespannt und zielt
13. (H7-14) und richtet auf jenen tödliche Geschosse; seine Pfeile steckt er in Brand!
14. (H7-15) Siehe, da hat einer Böses im Sinn; er brütet Unheil aus, wird aber Trug gebären!
15. (H7-16) Er hat eine Grube gegraben und ausgehöhlt und ist in die Grube gefallen, die er gemacht.
16. (H7-17) Das Unheil, das er angerichtet hat, kehrt auf sein eigenes Haupt zurück, und die Untat, die er begangen, fällt auf seinen Scheitel.
17. (H7-18) Ich will dem HERRN danken für seine Gerechtigkeit; und dem Namen des HERRN, des Höchsten, will ich singen.
