verses:

1. Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

3. Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

4. That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

6. They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

7. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

8. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

9. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

1. Au chef de choeur. Psaume de David.

2. O Dieu, écoute-moi quand je gémis, protège ma vie contre l'ennemi que je redoute!

3. Mets-moi à l'abri des complots des méchants, de la troupe bruyante des hommes injustes!

4. Ils aiguisent leur langue comme une épée, ils lancent leurs paroles amères comme des flèches

5. pour tirer en cachette sur celui qui est intègre. Soudain ils tirent sur lui, sans éprouver la moindre crainte.

6. Ils se fortifient dans leur méchanceté, ils se concertent pour tendre des pièges, ils disent: «Qui les verra?»

7. Ils combinent des crimes: «Nous sommes prêts, le plan est au point!» La pensée intime, le coeur, de chacun est un abîme.

8. Dieu lance ses flèches contre eux: soudain les voilà frappés.

9. Leur langue a causé leur chute; tous ceux qui les voient hochent la tête.

10. Tous les hommes sont saisis de crainte; ils proclament ce que Dieu fait, ils prêtent attention à son oeuvre.

11. Le juste se réjouit en l'Eternel et se réfugie en lui; tous ceux dont le coeur est droit s'en félicitent.
