1. Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:
2. And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
3. And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
4. And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
5. So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
6. And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
7. And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
8. In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger.
9. Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
10. Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
11. And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
12. This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
13. And these are the measures of the altar after the cubits: The cubit is a cubit and an hand breadth; even the bottom shall be a cubit, and the breadth a cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about shall be a span: and this shall be the higher place of the altar.
14. And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.
15. So the altar shall be four cubits; and from the altar and upward shall be four horns.
16. And the altar shall be twelve cubits long, twelve broad, square in the four squares thereof.
17. And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.
18. And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon.
19. And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young bullock for a sin offering.
20. And thou shalt take of the blood thereof, and put it on the four horns of it, and on the four corners of the settle, and upon the border round about: thus shalt thou cleanse and purge it.
21. Thou shalt take the bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
22. And on the second day thou shalt offer a kid of the goats without blemish for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they did cleanse it with the bullock.
23. When thou hast made an end of cleansing it, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish, and a ram out of the flock without blemish.
24. And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
25. Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish.
26. Seven days shall they purge the altar and purify it; and they shall consecrate themselves.
27. And when these days are expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord GOD.

2. J'ai vu la gloire du Dieu d'Israël venir depuis l'est. Sa voix était pareille au bruit des grandes eaux et la terre resplendissait de sa gloire.
3. Cette apparition était semblable à celle que j'avais vue lorsque j'étais venu pour détruire la ville, elle ressemblait à la vision que j'avais eue près du fleuve Kebar. Alors je suis tombé le visage contre terre.
4. La gloire de l'Eternel a pénétré dans le temple en passant par l'entrée qui est orientée à l'est.
5. L'Esprit m'a alors enlevé et m'a conduit dans le parvis intérieur. J'ai vu que la gloire de l'Eternel remplissait le temple.
6. J'ai entendu quelqu'un me parler depuis le temple, tandis que l'homme se tenait près de moi.
7. Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, voici l'emplacement de mon trône, l'endroit où je poserai la plante de mes pieds. C'est là que j'habiterai pour toujours au milieu des Israélites. La communauté d'Israël et ses rois ne porteront plus atteinte à la pureté de mon saint nom par leurs prostitutions et par les cadavres de leurs rois sur leurs hauts lieux.
8. Ils mettaient leur seuil près de mon seuil, les montants de leurs portes près des montants de mes portes, de sorte qu'il n'y avait plus qu'un mur entre moi et eux. Ils ont ainsi porté atteinte à la pureté de mon saint nom par les pratiques abominables auxquelles ils se sont adonnés. C'est pourquoi je les ai dévorés dans ma colère.
9. Désormais, ils éloigneront de moi leurs prostitutions et les cadavres de leurs rois, si bien que j'habiterai pour toujours au milieu d'eux.
10. »Toi, fils de l'homme, décris ce temple à la communauté d'Israël! Qu'ils rougissent de leurs fautes et mesurent le plan!
11. S'ils rougissent de tout ce qu'ils ont fait, fais-leur connaître la forme de ce temple, sa disposition, ses issues et ses entrées, toutes ses formes et toutes les prescriptions le concernant, toutes ses formes et toutes les lois le concernant. Mets-les par écrit sous leurs yeux afin qu'ils retiennent toutes ses formes et toutes les prescriptions le concernant et s'y conforment.
12. Voici la loi concernant le temple: au sommet de la montagne, tout l'espace qui l'entoure est très saint. Telle est la loi du temple.»
13. Voici les dimensions de l'autel. Les mesures étalons employées étaient plus longues de 8 centimètres que la mesure ordinaire. La base de l'autel faisait 50 centimètres de haut et 50 centimètres de large, avec un rebord tout autour qui avait 25 centimètres de largeur. C'était le support de l'autel.
14. Depuis la base, au ras du sol, jusqu'au socle inférieur il y avait un mètre sur 50 centimètres de largeur, et depuis le petit jusqu'au grand socle il y avait 2 mètres sur 50 centimètres de largeur.
15. Le sommet de l'autel était à 2 mètres, et quatre cornes montaient du foyer.
16. Le foyer faisait 6 mètres de long, 6 mètres de large, et formait un carré par ses quatre côtés.
17. Le socle avait 7 mètres de longueur sur 7 mètres de largeur, sur les quatre côtés, et le rebord qui l'entourait mesurait 25 centimètres. Sa base faisait 50 centimètres tout autour, et son escalier était orienté vers l'est.
18. Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Telles sont les prescriptions relatives à l'autel pour le jour où on le construira afin d'y offrir les holocaustes et d'y verser du sang.
19. Tu donneras aux prêtres, aux Lévites qui sont issus de Tsadok et qui s'approchent de moi pour me servir, déclare le Seigneur, l'Eternel, un jeune taureau pour le sacrifice d'expiation.
20. Tu prendras de son sang et tu en mettras sur les quatre cornes de l'autel, sur les quatre angles du socle et sur le rebord qui l'entoure. Tu purifieras ainsi l'autel du péché et tu feras pour lui le rite d'expiation.
21. Tu prendras le taureau destiné au sacrifice d'expiation et on le brûlera dans un endroit réservé du temple, à l'extérieur du sanctuaire.
22. Le deuxième jour, tu offriras un bouc sans défaut en sacrifice d'expiation. On purifiera ainsi l'autel du péché, tout comme on l'aura purifié avec le taureau.
23. Quand tu auras fini de le purifier du péché, tu offriras un jeune taureau sans défaut et un bélier du troupeau sans défaut.
24. Tu les présenteras devant l'Eternel. Les prêtres jetteront du sel sur eux et les offriront en holocauste à l'Eternel.
25. Pendant sept jours tu offriras chaque jour un bouc en sacrifice d'expiation. On sacrifiera aussi un jeune taureau et un bélier du troupeau, tous les deux sans défaut.
26. Pendant sept jours on fera le rite d'expiation et la purification de l'autel. C'est ainsi qu'on le mettra en fonction.
27. Lorsqu'on arrivera au bout de cette période, dès le huitième jour et après, les prêtres offriront vos holocaustes et vos sacrifices de communion sur l'autel, et je vous serai favorable, déclare le Seigneur, l'Eternel.»
