1. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2. They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
3. The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4. Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
5. For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6. The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

2. Sauve-nous, Eternel, car il n'y a plus d'hommes loyaux! Les fidèles disparaissent du milieu des hommes.
3. On se dit des mensonges les uns aux autres, on a sur les lèvres des paroles flatteuses, on parle avec un coeur double.
4. Que l'Eternel extermine toutes les lèvres flatteuses, la langue qui parle avec arrogance,
5. ceux qui disent: «Nous sommes forts par notre langue, nous avons nos lèvres avec nous. Qui pourrait devenir notre maître?»
6. «Parce que les malheureux sont opprimés et que les pauvres gémissent, maintenant, dit l'Eternel, je me lève, j'apporte le salut à ceux qui soupirent après lui.»
7. Les paroles de l'Eternel sont des paroles pures, un argent affiné dans un creuset en argile et sept fois épuré.
8. Toi, Eternel, tu les garderas, tu les préserveras pour toujours de ces gens.
9. Les méchants rôdent partout quand la bassesse règne parmi les hommes.
