1. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5. To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6. Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7. Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13. But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
1. On entend généralement dire qu'il y a de l'immoralité sexuelle parmi vous, et une immoralité telle qu'on ne la mentionne même pas chez les non-croyants; c'est au point que l'un de vous a pris la femme de son père.
2. Et vous êtes enflés d'orgueil! Vous auriez dû plutôt prendre le deuil, de sorte que l'auteur de cet acte soit exclu du milieu de vous!
3. Quant à moi, absent de corps mais présent en esprit, j'ai déjà jugé l'auteur d'un tel acte comme si j'étais présent.
4. Quand vous vous rassemblerez au nom de [notre] Seigneur Jésus[-Christ] je serai avec vous en esprit , avec la puissance de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ
5. livrez un tel homme à Satan pour la destruction de la nature pécheresse afin que l'esprit soit sauvé le jour du Seigneur Jésus.
6. Vous n'avez vraiment pas de quoi être fiers! Ne savez-vous pas qu'un peu de levain fait lever toute la pâte?
7. Purifiez-vous [donc] du vieux levain afin d'être une pâte nouvelle, puisque vous êtes sans levain. En effet, Christ, notre agneau pascal, a été sacrifié [pour nous].
8. Célébrons donc la fête, non avec du vieux levain, le levain du mal et de la méchanceté, mais avec les pains sans levain de la pureté et de la vérité.
9. Je vous ai écrit dans ma lettre de ne pas entretenir de relations avec ceux qui vivent dans l'immoralité sexuelle.
10. Je ne parlais pas d'une manière absolue des gens de ce monde qui vivent dans l'immoralité ou sont toujours désireux de posséder plus, voleurs, idolâtres; autrement, il vous faudrait sortir du monde.
11. En fait, ce que je vous ai écrit, c'est de ne pas entretenir de relations avec quelqu'un qui, tout en se disant votre frère, vit dans l'immoralité sexuelle, est toujours désireux de posséder plus, idolâtre, calomniateur, ivrogne ou voleur, de ne pas même manger avec un tel homme.
12. Est-ce à moi, en effet, de juger les gens de l'extérieur? N'est-ce pas ceux de l'intérieur que vous devez juger?
13. Les gens de l'extérieur, Dieu les jugera. Chassez le méchant du milieu de vous.
