1. I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3. And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
4. And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
5. For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6. Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
7. Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
8. For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
9. For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
10. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
11. And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12. And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13. Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

2. J'ai dit à l'ange qui me parlait: «Qu'est-ce que ces cornes?» Et il m'a répondu: «Ce sont les puissances qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem.»
3. L'Eternel m'a fait voir quatre forgerons.
4. J'ai dit: «Que viennent-ils faire?» Il a répondu: «Des puissances ont dispersé Juda au point que personne ne redresse la tête, et ces forgerons sont venus pour les effrayer, pour abattre la puissance des nations qui se sont levées contre le pays de Juda afin de disperser ses habitants.»
5. J'ai levé les yeux et vu un homme qui tenait dans la main un ruban à mesurer.
6. J'ai dit: «Où vas-tu?» Il m'a répondu: «Je vais mesurer Jérusalem pour voir sa largeur et sa longueur.»
7. Alors, l'ange qui me parlait s'est avancé. Un autre ange est venu à sa rencontre
8. et lui a ordonné: «Cours dire à ce jeune homme: 'Jérusalem sera une ville ouverte à cause du grand nombre d'hommes et de bêtes qui y vivront.
9. Je serai moi-même pour elle une muraille de feu tout autour, déclare l'Eternel, et je serai sa gloire au milieu d'elle.'
10. »Allons, allons! Fuyez du pays du nord, déclare l'Eternel, car je vous avais dispersés aux quatre coins de l'horizon, déclare l'Eternel.
11. Allons! Sauve-toi, Sion, toi qui habites à Babylone,
12. car voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers: Après cela viendra la gloire. Il m'a envoyé vers les nations qui vous ont dépouillés, car celui qui vous touche touche à la prunelle de son oeil.
13. Me voici, je lève ma main contre elles, elles seront la proie de ceux qui étaient leurs esclaves, et vous saurez que l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers, m'a envoyé.
14. »Pousse des cris d'allégresse et réjouis-toi, fille de Sion! En effet, je viens habiter au milieu de toi, déclare l'Eternel.
15. Beaucoup de nations s'attacheront à l'Eternel, ce jour-là, et deviendront mon peuple. J'habiterai au milieu de toi, et tu sauras que l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers, m'a envoyé vers toi.
16. L'Eternel possédera Juda comme sa part dans la terre sainte, et il choisira encore Jérusalem.
17. Que toute créature fasse silence devant l'Eternel, car il s'est réveillé et sort de sa demeure sainte.»
