1. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

3. But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

5. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

6. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

7. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

8. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

1. Au chef de choeur, avec instruments à cordes. Psaume de David.

2. Quand je crie, réponds-moi, Dieu de ma justice! Quand j'étais dans la détresse, tu m'as mis au large. Aie pitié de moi, écoute ma prière!

3. Vous les hommes, jusqu'à quand mépriserez-vous ma gloire? Jusqu'à quand aimerez-vous ce qui est sans valeur et rechercherez-vous le mensonge? Pause.

4. Sachez que l'Eternel s'est choisi un homme fidèle. L'Eternel entend quand je crie à lui.

5. *Si vous vous mettez en colère, ne péchez pas! Parlez dans votre coeur, sur votre lit, et faites silence. Pause.

6. Offrez des sacrifices conformes à la justice et confiez-vous en l'Eternel.

7. Beaucoup disent: «Qui nous fera voir le bonheur?» Fais briller la lumière de ton visage sur nous, Eternel!

8. Tu mets dans mon coeur plus de joie qu'ils n'en éprouvent quand abondent leur blé, leur vin [et leur huile].

9. Je me couche et aussitôt je m'endors en paix, car c'est toi seul, Eternel, qui me donnes la sécurité dans ma demeure.
