Yesterday Jesus Crucified: Psalm 22

The account of the crucifixion, we find it in the Gospels: For example in the Gospel according to Mark: (Mark 15.21-29)

But, we find this prophetic announcement in several Psalms, in the books of Isaiah, Zechariah among others. Psalm 22 of David evokes very specific facts:

Psalm 22: 7-9 But I am a worm and not a man, the shame of mankind, whom the people despise. Everyone who sees me laughs at me, they sneer, they shake their heads: “Commission your fate to the Lord! The Lord will save him, he will deliver him, since he loves him!”

Or: Verses 17-19

Yes, dogs surround me, a band of scoundrels prowl around me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I could count all my bones; they observe, they look at me, they share my clothes, they draw lots for my clothes.

We see how the Scriptures have been fulfilled to the letter. By dying on the cross, Jesus said: “it is finished”, this does not only mean that He fulfilled the prophecies concerning him, but it means that He opened the way of the Father to us: “Jesus said to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. » John 14:6

“There is one God, and also one mediator between God and men, Jesus Christ the man, who gave himself a ransom for all . 1 Timothy 2:5

“ In him we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace, which God has poured out abundantly upon us with every kind of wisdom and understanding, making known to us the mystery of his will, according to the benevolent design which he had formed in himself, to put it into execution when the time should be fulfilled, to unite all things in Christ, those which are in heaven and those which are on earth. » Ephesians 1: 7-10

For it is by grace that you are saved, through faith. And it’s not from you, it’s God’s gift. Not by works, lest any man boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Today the risen Jesus Psalm 23

On Easter morning, Jesus is no longer in the tomb, he is risen: Mark 16: 1-14

Yes, Christ is really risen, if that were not the case… our faith would be vain and without hope. The apostle Paul underlines this in his letter to the Corinthians: “If there is no resurrection of the dead, neither is Christ risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is also in vain. … and He specifies: “But now Christ is risen from the dead, he is the firstfruits of those who died. 1 Corinthians 15.

Christ is not only risen, but he has promised to be with us always. He invites us to unload ourselves on Him. « Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest » He is that good Shepherd of whom Psalm 23 speaks.

Jesus turns out to be the Good Shepherd, for Mary who is at the tomb, Mary is in tears, she thinks that the body of the one who had intervened in her life has been stolen, she wants to pay homage to him, to bury him with dignity. But Jesus, the Good Shepherd intervenes, calls her by His Name: Mary… And she says to Him: “Teacher” Let us remember what Jesus said in John 10: “… the sheep hear his voice; he, (The Good Shepherd) calls by name the sheep that belong to him…the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. »

Perhaps you are in pain, in incomprehension… Perhaps you wish to pay homage to God… by burying him with dignity? sometimes we forget God consciously or not… Is Jesus really the resurrected, the living… Let us approach Him. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace, to help in our time of need. » Hebrews 4:16

Jesus reveals himself to be the Good Shepherd, for the two disciples on the way… These two disciples share their expectations and their disappointment: “Jesus of Nazareth was a powerful prophet in deeds and words before God and before all the people, the chief priests our magistrates handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. We hoped that it would be he who would deliver Israel…” Luke 24:20.

The expectation of a nationalist Jesus who would deliver Israel from the Roman yoke… A disappointed expectation, the death of Jesus, the end of a hope, of a dream… Jesus, on several occasions had yet spoken of the cross? When God speaks to me, what do I hear? What are my expectations, my disappointments… What are we talking about? is our bitterness expressed towards God, Jesus Christ, His church, brothers and sisters of the church…? Does our expectation match God’s plan? Is my expectation simply motivated by my ego… Jesus walks with me? am I ready to invite him? to recognize his action? to recognize him today as being the one who had already given me many gifts… Am I ready to go back to meet the brothers…?

Then Jesus is the Good Shepherd for the disciples. He appears to the disciples… The doors of the house were closed, they were afraid… and Jesus said to them.  » Peace be with you! And when he had said that, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. » John 20:20

Joy has replaced fear!

Jesus is the good shepherd for Thomas… absent that evening… Thomas expresses his doubts: « If I do not see the mark of the nails in his hands, and if I do not put my finger in the mark put my hand in his side, I will not believe. Without reproaching her, Jesus welcomes her doubts: “Put your finger here, and look at my hands; reach out your hand also, and put it in my side; and don’t disbelieve, but believe. »

Thomas’ answer can also be mine: “My Lord and my God! »

We have doubts, fears, questions, so come to him. He welcomes us…

The Good Shepherd is there in our circumstances. After giving his life for me, here he is with me. If fatigue seizes me, it restores our soul.

Psalm 23 encourages me:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He brings me to rest in green pastures, he leads me to still waters. 3 He gives me strength, he leads me in the paths of righteousness because of his name.

What can I miss the most? Peace, hope or hope for the future, justice… Many have been renewed by reading His word.

Let us know how to come to Him, stand in His presence, make His promises our own… He has conquered death, He will not lie and all because of His name.

Circumstances can be difficult, hostile… We can do nothing against suffering, death, even the mockery of the adversaries can disturb us… and yet let us remember, Jesus is victorious, he is there and wants to live in us and fill us of the Holy Spirit:

“Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I fear no evil for you are with me. Your guidance and your support: this is what comforts me. 5 You prepare a table before me, before my adversaries; you pour oil on my head and you make my cup overflow. »

Happiness is for us, the grace of God, his benevolence accompanies us day after day. Let us know how to return constantly to Him, the source of living water!

“Yes, happiness and grace will accompany me all the days of my life and I will return to the house of the Lord until the end of my days. »

He is this Good Shepherd and perhaps asks us this question that He asked Peter after the resurrection… Peter do you love me? Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you… Is this also my response to the Risen One?

In my response to the Risen One, am I able to see that God can bless this brother who totally disagrees with me… And as Charles Swindoll says in his book: “Awakening to Grace”: “God does
not is not stubborn like many of his children are. God is much easier to live with than most of his followers,…much more tolerant and, no doubt, more gracious and forgiving than all of us”.

So let us know how to be shepherds for our brothers and sisters… and let us remember the words of Jesus… what does it matter to you? You follow me.

Forever, Jesus the King of Glory Psalm 34.

“Psalm of David. To the Lord the earth and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it! 2 For he founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers. 3 Who can ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who will rise to his holy place? – 4 He who has innocent hands and a pure heart; He who does not deliver his soul to lies, And who does not swear to deceive. 5 He will obtain the blessing of the Lord, the mercy of the God of his salvation. 6 This is the portion of the generation that calls on him, Of those who seek your face, of Jacob! -Break.

Who can ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who will rise to his holy place? – 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart. Jesus Alone.
We all have sinned… “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 and they are justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25 It is he whom God has destined, by his blood, to be, for those who would believe a propitiatory victim… Romans 3: 23

But Christ is sinless : « He who committed no sin, neither in whose mouth was no deceit found » 1 Peter 2:22

He alone can ascend the mountain of the Lord! and the following verses of the psalm make this clear:

“ 7 Doors, raise your lintels; Rise, Eternal Gates! Let the King of Glory enter! – 8 Who is this king of glory? -The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. 9 Doors, raise your lintels; Raise them, Eternal Gates! Let the King of Glory enter! – 10 Who is this king of glory? -The Lord of hosts: Behold the king of glory! -Break.

One day I will see this King of glory, because as the scripture says, « If we recognize our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of them and to cleanse us from all evil. » and this word of the scripture will be fulfilled: « Therefore also God exalted him in a sovereign way, and gave him the name which is above every name, 10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee bow down in heaven, on earth and under the earth, 11 and let every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. » Philippians 2

Let us know how to welcome this King of glory: Doors, raise your lintels; Raise them, Eternal Gates! Let the King of Glory enter!

Is he already the King of our lives? the King I want to glorify!!!
