How to be consistent?

1 Peter 2. 4-10
4 Draw near to Christ,
the living stone
rejected by men
but
chosen and precious before God,

5 and yourselves, as living stones,
allow yourselves to be built up

  • to form a spiritual house,
  • a group of holy priests,
    in order to offer spiritual sacrifices that God can accept through Jesus Christ. 6 Indeed, it is said in the Scripture:
    “I set in Zion a cornerstone, chosen, precious.
    Whoever believes in her will never be ashamed of her. »

7 It is therefore precious to you who believe.

As for those who disobey,

  • the stone rejected by those who build has become the cornerstone.
  • 8 It is also a blocking stone and a stumbling rock. They come up against it because they disobey the word, and that’s what they were meant to do.

9 You, on the other hand,

  • are a chosen people,
  • royal priests,
  • a holy nation,
  • a redeemed people
    to proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

10 You who were once no people are now the people of God;
you who had not obtained compassion, you have now obtained compassion.

Steady attitude

“Drawing near to Christ” suggests a constant attitude.

In principle, we all agree, that’s the key.

He alone is

  • the resurrection
  • and the life . John 11. 25-26
    Jesus said to him, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even if he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe that?” He alone

1 Peter 2.10
You who were once no people
are now the people of God;

you who had not obtained compassion,
you have now obtained compassion.

Practically

But in fact, we often place in our thoughts, in another cornerstone:

Men

  • Me.
  • A person (whom I like or hate or who hurts me).

Trust in political • institutions
(federal, cantonal, communal, etc.);

  • State services (care, social security, etc.);
  • private (bank, insurance, etc.).

Biblically close

  • The Spirit;
  • the Bible ;
  • the ministry, mission or people I am trying to reach.

Bible Topics

  • Israel;
  • Eschatology;
  • egalitarianism;
  • Calvinism.

What affects me

  • My concerns (relational, professional, health, administrative, financial, etc.);
  • my health.
  • My sin.

Take the pole

If from a psychological point of view, it is obvious that focusing on the problem never brings the solution, here there is really more than double-edged psychology, it is a question of the One who is Alive, which is

  • the resurrection
  • and the life.

He alone is the solution

To Him the praise!

Is it valuable?
Draw near to Christ, He is so precious.
But is it so precious?

A precious asset

We may have something unique and very precious,
like the Youkounkoun, in the film “Le Corniaud” with Louis de Funès and Bourvil.

We would be upset if it was stolen or taken away from us; in this we measure the interest we had for this thing!
But this object is not alive!

Bible Passages

1 Peter 2:4-10/ ASV

4. unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,
5. ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6. Because it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
7. For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;
8. and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9. But ye are a elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God's] own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10. who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
