KJV summary for : Daniel 5
Summary: Daniel chapter 5 recounts the story of King Belshazzar of Babylon, who holds a lavish feast for a thousand of his lords while blasphemously using the sacred vessels taken from the Jerusalem temple. During the banquet, mysterious writing appears on the wall, which terrifies Belshazzar and prompts him to seek the interpretation of the message. The queen reminds him of Daniel's reputation for interpreting dreams and enigmatic writings, leading to Daniel being summoned. Daniel interprets the writing, revealing that it means "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin," indicating that God has numbered Belshazzar’s days, found him lacking, and determined the fall of his kingdom. This chapter emphasizes the themes of pride, the sovereignty of God, and divine judgment. Ultimately, Belshazzar is overthrown that very night by the Medes and Persians, serving as a powerful reminder of the consequences of defiance against God and the transient nature of earthly power.
