“Navigators of the Lake in Spring” – KidsTeam Lausanne-Renens Activities
With spring in the air, KidsTeam Lausanne-Renens at Renens AB Church has launched a new season of enriching adventures for children. This trimester’s theme, “Navigators of the Lake,” takes young explorers on a journey of discovery filled with fun, creativity, and Christian values. Inspired by Mark 4:35-40 , where Jesus calms the storm, the theme encourages children to “navigate life’s waters” with confidence and faith.
What’s Happening This Spring?
KidsTeam’s program includes a variety of games, creative projects, and Bible stories tailored to engage children’s minds and hearts. Each session includes fun and structured activities that combine play, learning, and spiritual growth in an inviting and relaxed setting.
Creative Activities: Crafting and Imagining
- Papier-mâché and Origami Projects
Kids will enjoy crafting forest animals and marine life through papier-mâché and origami. This classic activity is a KidsTeam favorite, where children develop fine motor skills and let their creativity shine. From playful animals to beautiful boats, these crafts provide a hands-on way for children to learn about God’s creation while exploring their talents. - Drawing and Story-Based Crafts
The story of Jesus calming the storm will inspire kids to create artwork and scene decorations that bring this Bible passage to life. Drawing and crafting around this story allows children to express their understanding of courage and faith, helping to set the stage for their own “lake adventures.”
Quiet Activities: Reflection and Focus
- Bible Stories and Meditation
Each session includes a quiet time for Bible stories and reflection, designed to help children internalize values of trust and peace. Stories such as Jesus calming the storm encourage children to remain calm in difficult times and to look to their faith as a source of inner strength. - Puzzles and Poetry
Children can dive into reflective moments with marine-themed puzzles and poetry writing, providing a focus on patience and concentration. These activities invite kids to connect with the themes of the day and express themselves in unique and thoughtful ways. - Sensory Games
To stimulate curiosity and patience, KidsTeam offers sensory activities like texture-based scavenger hunts. Children search for and identify various objects by touch, discovering textures and learning to be patient and observant.
Dynamic Activities: Singing, Playing, and Sharing Laughter
- Songs and Music
With guitar or piano accompaniment, children will sing Christian songs, helping them connect with spiritual themes in a joyous and communal setting. These moments bring KidsTeam members together, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the afternoon.
Why Enroll Your Child?
Here are some of the benefits (and a few lighthearted ones!) of enrolling your child in KidsTeam’s “Navigators of the Lake”:
- Creative Mess Outside the Home: With papier-mâché projects and other creative activities, it’s easier to keep your living room tidy!
- A Quiet Afternoon at Home: After an active day at KidsTeam, your child is likely to return home pleasantly tired and happy.
- Origami Animals Abound: Kids learn origami techniques, and who knows, they might come home with new skills (and animals!) you haven’t seen before.
- A Free Snack at 4 PM: Kids enjoy a snack and create memories with new friends during break time.
And here are a few (less serious) reasons you might not want to register your child:
- They May Request a Real Boat: After their lake-themed experience, they might ask to build an actual boat at home!
- Budding Chefs: Kids may return inspired to recreate snacks they enjoyed at KidsTeam.
- Invisible Microphone Sing-Alongs: Be ready for your child to perform with an “invisible mic” in your living room.
- Evening Puppet Shows: Kids might want to stage puppet shows to retell Bible stories every night.
Creating Lasting Memories and Lifelong Values
The KidsTeam afternoons are crafted to leave lasting memories, build friendships, and teach values in a fun, accessible way. With spring’s arrival bringing fresh energy and inspiration, KidsTeam is thrilled to guide children in “navigating life” with peace and faith. From puppets to games and creative workshops, each child will walk away with a renewed confidence in facing life’s storms.
